Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How are my finances evaluated?
A: In order for us to allocate our resources wisely and fairly, we make use of the FAST program. FAST provides a need-based financial aid analysis which includes a recommendation of what a family should reasonably contribute toward tuition. FAST does not decide whether financial assistance will be given or how much to give; rather the analysis is the primary tool that the School uses to decide the amount of tuition assistance granted. Please note: the Freedom Business Office does NOT receive any financial information about a family – this is strictly private between the outside agency and the individual family. Freedom only receives a recommendation for financial assistance from FAST. Unusual circumstances of each family situation are acknowledged and considered by the Tuition Assistance Committee. The guiding principle of the committee is to fairly distribute the limited tuition assistance funds that are available.
Q: Does application for tuition assistance affect admissions?
A: Admission decisions are based solely upon a student's qualifications.
Q: How is Tuition Assistance funded?
A: Tuition assistance is funded through the Annual Fund.
Q: Who should apply for Tuition Assistance?
A: If the cost of a Freedom Christian School education is beyond a family's financial means, they should apply for tuition assistance. Income may not preclude the possibility of assistance since other tuition costs, other dependents, unusual medical expenses, considerable debt (excluding consumer debt), or some other extraordinary financial burden are considerations. The entire process is strictly confidential.
The School's policy for determining the financial need of students is based on the principle that both parents are responsible for the support and educational expenses of their children to the extent that they are financially able to assume that responsibility.
Q: If I currently receive tuition assistance, do I have to apply again?
A: Yes. Each year a family must submit a new Parent's Financial Statement to FAST. In addition, any student currently receiving need-based assistance may reapply as long as all current financial obligations to the school have been met.
Q. When are tuition assistance applications due?
A: It is VERY IMPORTANT to complete the financial aid application and submit to FAST as soon as possible.
TUITION ASSISTANCE STILL AVAILABLE THROUGH FAST:
Families that have applied for FAST prior to April 20th will be notified the first week of May of their FAST awards for the 2012-2013 school year. Please Note...If you have not applied for FAST, IT IS NOT TOO LATE. We are accepting applications until May 30th. These applicants will be notified of their awards in June.
