The Freedom Christian band program seeks to glorify God by accomplishing the mission of Freedom through excellence in instrumental music. Band begins in 5th grade, and students’ progress their way up through 6th grade band, 7th and 8th grade band, and the High School Symphonic Band. Several concerts are performed each year in the fall, winter and spring, and the 7th & 8th, as well as the High School bands participate in the Michigan School Band & Orchestra Association Festival. Freedom has a long history of successful bands, often receiving First Division ratings at these festivals and moving on to Band & Orchestra Festival at the state level.

Two new ensembles were introduced in 2011: Freedom Christian Percussion Ensemble (available to grades 7-12) as well as the Freedom Christian Jazz Combo (available to grades 8-12). These groups provide students opportunities to experience and perform varying types of music outside of the traditional concert band setting, and help them to develop specific skill sets that will serve them well in their musical education as a whole. The Freedom Christian Band Program is proud to “make a joyful noise unto the Lord.”
